Lifestyle Photography by Mister+ Lady | Seven Creeks Produce | A boat, a baby and two boarding passes
The Story of Ryan, Sally & Charlie
This week we found ourselves knee high in grass at times as we were commissioned to do some commercial lifestyle photography for Seven Creeks Produce. Sally had their fantastic story written but desperately needed some great images of themselves and the farm for their website.
Ryan and Sally dreamt up the idea for their new business as they sailed to Tasmania last year. With a baby on the way, and enjoying their first holiday together in years, they decided it was time to start living by their own rules. They were ‘weekend farmers’, often making the four hour trip to Grandpa Verns’ farm on a Friday night after work. The difficult part was having to say goodbye to their family and animals and make the four hour trip back home for work. Desperately wanting that life full time, as the boat cruised across Bass Strait, they used the back of their boarding passes to draft a business plan for what was soon to become Seven Creeks Produce.
Knowing how sensational farm fresh meat tastes, they had become increasingly frustrated with sending their best livestock to the saleyards then having to cook with inconsistent meat of dubious heritage from the supermarket and butchers. They wanted to have full control over the welfare of the animals in their care, from ‘paddock to plate’. Wanting to share top quality meat with friends and family they combined their skills, experience, love for animals and people to build a family business to be proud of.
Not long after writing their ‘boarding pass business plan’, they got carried away at an auction and purchased a run down farmhouse on a few acres at Euroa. Ryan left his job running a cattle feedlot and working on a broadacre cropping farm. Sally took maternity leave from Longerenong Ag College where she had been teaching Sheep & Cattle Production. Selling their beautiful converted church they packed up house and moved into ’Airlie Lodge’ in April this year, with three month old baby Charlie. This special property backs onto the Seven Creeks and is now home to their happy little family and Seven Creeks Produce.
Seven Creek’s beef and lamb is lovingly produced on three family farms in the Strathbogie Ranges: Their own plot of heaven at ‘Airlie Lodge’ at Euroa, Grandpa Verns’ farm ‘Cappagh White’ at Sheans Creek, and Uncle Ross’ farm at Lurg. Direct from their family to yours and with an emphasis on quality and animal welfare, they are proud to deliver Gourmet meat. Ethically produced. No compromise.
